This is the 6th article of how to increase traffic to retail stores series, and I have already received tremendous positive responses from local retail store owners. It means, I will not stop after 10 articles, and will keep sharing tips and help retailers survive during the recession.

Do You Use Local Directories to Advertise your Retail Store?

Many local business owners don’t understand the importance of online local directories. If you are not advertising at these directories, you are sending a large number of potential customers to your competitors.

It’s never too late, get to work, and start promoting your store on these directories.

Why Should I Advertise at Local Directories

  1. Most of them are free. Only investment is your time.
  2. They bring direct traffic to your retail store and your website.
  3. They are great at organic search results. If your store name is there, your listing will pop up in many related local searches on Google, Yahoo, etc.
  4. They have customer reviews. Customer reviews are an important for potential customers to make decisions.
  5. Before the internet era; Yellow Pages, after the internet era; Online Local Directories. You just need to be there.
