Benefits over Features

Whether you are selling a diet pill, an LCD TV or an eBook, listing the features of the product will not help with your sales. Your customers don’t want to hear about the features, they want to hear about the benefits. So, tell them exactly “what’s in it for them”.

When planning an online marketing campaign, many marketers still forget about the importance of benefits over features. As a marketer, your job is to sell the benefits of the product on both your ad copy and sales copy.

This is easier to be said than done. Here’s a 3 step recipe to fully understand and implement the important marketing technique; Selling Benefits over Features.

au·thor·i·ty noun: the power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior.

Authority is powerful stuff.

Authority can be abused and it can definitely corrupt…

But it can also build trust, admiration, and respect.

And when it comes to online marketing…

Authority is what works.

This is written on the first page of a free eBook called Authority Rules. It’s written by Copyblogger founder Brian Clark. It is a short and right to the point report, and you should definitely check it out (pdf link).

Craigslist Marketing

I keep saying it over and over again, just like many other bloggers who write about Internet Marketing. So, here it is again:

I don’t offer fish to all of my guests, but I will be glad to teach/show you “how to catch fish”.

But when I start thinking about people who are new to internet marketing or specifically affiliate marketing, I understand how frustrating it can get sometimes. You read all of these affiliate blogs and forums, you get pumped up with some great ideas, but never have the necessary skills and knowhow to implement that idea.

I wasn’t born as an internet marketer with full of skills, knowhow and resources, so I exactly know how you feel.

Don’t worry, I believe in KARMA. I have personally made so much money by simply taking a basic idea or case study and expanding it to a whole new level by creativity and hard work. And I’m sure, some of you will create successful businesses out of the ideas and case studies I share here.

And, I have thousands of ideas. I have more ideas that I can literally implement in my life time :) It won’t bother me or my business a bit if I share a few of these ideas and case studies with you once in a while.

Ok, I know you are excited, so let’s get started with the Craigslist Marketing Case Study.

I have made over $5000 Net Profit within 48 hours on Craigslist

Facebook Workplace Targeting

Last week on a regular evening at home, I was on the computer reading my favorite blogs and my wife was on her laptop browsing the net.

We were both quiet and minding our own stuff.

Then suddenly, she called my name with a very excited voice tone asking: “Hey, isn’t my car’s insurance ending this month?”

I’ve said: “Yeah, I guess so, I have to look up”

Then she got more excited and said (while turning the laptop’s screen to my workstation):

Look at this deal, XYZ Auto Insurance Company is running a special discount for only Westchester Medical Center Employees!!!

She was showing me a Facebook Ad running an auto insurance offer, and targeting workplaces. I was like WOW!

How to Get Started with Affiliate Marketing

One of the most popular questions I get asked all the time is;

How Do I Get Started with Affiliate Marketing?

There are so many forums, blogs, ebooks, tools, etc. about affiliate marketing. In a way it’s great, but it’s also too much information overload if you don’t know where to start.

When I was new to affiliate marketing, there were only a few discussions on DigitalPoint and on couple of other forums, and it was it. I had to learn pretty much everything by testing.

I was pretty excited when I first heard about affiliate marketing, and I was ready to jump into it. But just like other newbies, I didn’t know where to start. Affiliate marketing has grown into a multi billion dollar industry, and I’m happy & excited to see it growing every day.

Focusing on Affiliate Marketing

This is my personal blog. My current readers know that I write on any topic I like.

Lately, I have been focused mostly on affiliate marketing, and I’m pretty excited about it. I want to share more about affiliate marketing and that’s the only reason I’m changing the focus of this blog from broader marketing, ebiz & personal topics to narrower affiliate marketing. I will keep writing personal stuff once in a while though.

Since I’ve written a few posts related to affiliate marketing, I have received numerous emails asking questions and more information about affiliate marketing.

This is one of the reasons why Kirtok.com’s new name is; Internet Marketing with Kirtok.

I wasn’t sure about changing the name to “Affiliate Marketing with Kirtok” or “Internet Marketing with Kirtok”, and I’ve decided to use the “Internet Marketing with Kirtok”.

To be able to run a successful affiliate marketing business, you need to be good at several fields in internet marketing. So whether it is affiliate marketing, email marketing or SEO, I will be blogging about anything related to internet marketing.

Check out this post I’ve written about Affiliate Marketing Success while I get busy writing some cool posts, tutorials and case studies.

If you are new at kirtok.com; Welcome, and I hope your time spent here will be worth.

I love receiving feedback. So keep the comments coming, and feel free to ask anything in the comments. I’ll do my best to answer all the questions.

Online Learning Resources

Whether you have a college degree or not, if you want to succeed in business life, you need to constantly improve yourself. Personal growth is the main key to become better in business and life.

If you work for a large business, you might be getting free trainings, seminars, tools and resources, that is great. If you are a small business owner, you might be trying your best to improve yourself by reading books related to your field, following industry blogs, and even entering executive education programs. These are all good.

When to Say NO to Unethical Customers

When to Say NO to Unethical Customers

With the increase of online shopping, competition is getting more fierce by the day. There is no doubt that offering the best customer service will put your company one step ahead of the competition.

After the huge success of Zappos.com, many internet startups are trying to follow the “best service” rule. But, is it really that easy?

By working with many ecommerce companies along with my own company, I have witnessed in first hand, how hard and costly it can be to try to run a company with great service.

Business planning and forecasting is the key before implementing an important service decision. Most of the business owners are pretty good at forecasting. Before implementing a new service option such as free overnight shipping or a 365 days return policy, it is not rocket science to come up with all the variables, and forecast how this new policy will impact your business both financially and from other aspects of the business.
